Taken from Goodreads: Return to Lake in the Clouds, Colorado, with this feel-good, emotional story from New York Times bestselling author Emily March!
Genevieve Prentice is learning to let go. Now settled in Lake in the Clouds,
Colorado, forging new relationships with her adult children. She’s even opening
up her heart to a handsome widower, for the first time since her husband’s
death. But when her estranged eldest daughter moves to Lake in the Clouds,
Genevieve’s life is upended once again.
Willow Eldridge has numerous reasons to move to Lake in the Clouds. Regaining
the close relationship she and her mother once shared is just one of them. But
as much as she wants to explain to Genevieve why she’s pushed her away all
these years, her first priority is her troubled young son. And when he forms a
connection with a town resident with scars of his own, Willow can’t decide if
he’s the answer to her prayers . . . or just another mistake waiting to happen.
With Genevieve’s sixtieth birthday drawing near, mother and daughter struggle
to reconnect, and Genevieve worries if Willow will ever let go of her doubts
and fears to become the courageous woman she’s always known her to be. But
that’s the beauty of Lake in the Clouds—there, beneath its clear blue skies,
anything seems possible.
My Thoughts: Willow and her two young children have come to Colorado
after losing her husband. She has a big
secret that she is holding in. Willow
needs to escape her life and start over, she needs a fresh start and being near
her mom will help her with that.
Genevieve has moved to Colorado to start a life as Genevieve without
being seen as just a mom or grandma.
Although Genevieve is older than I am, I can relate to being someone’s
mom and not being seen as my own person.
Balancing Act has the perfect title. Life is a balancing act and it is not easy
to balance it. Each character is trying
to find their best life and keep those closest to them happy. This book has a lot going on it in. There is loss of love, finding new love,
relationships being mended, friendships starting, and family dynamics being
redefined.
This is book 2 in the series and I have not read book 1 and
still enjoyed this book. I am going to
go back and read book 1 because I enjoyed this book so much. I found the characters relatable and
becoming people I am invested in. The
storyline moved smoothly and it was easy to read.
