Back before
everyone left the little town of Sweet Home to the ghosts, she was the girl
next door. And he was the boy, who could never get on her father’s good side.
But none of that mattered. The only thing that mattered was that her heart had
picked him.
But that was years ago. And now, Berlin’s sister is praying for someone to show up to take her brother’s mind off the girl from his past. And surely enough, that someone does. But will this girl be able to cut the chains of his first love or will she just make him fall harder for that little girl he left behind in Sweet Home, Missouri?
One week is all they have.

My Thoughts…
Laura Miller has a way of writing. The Life We Almost Had is a story of second
chance, overcoming the odds, and following your heart. Iva and Berlin were teenage neighbors. From their first meeting as teenagers you
could feel a connection between them. It was interesting and entertaining seeing how
they would navigate having a “friend” of the opposite sex and how long it would
take them to realize what they had was definitely more than just a friendship.
I really like that there were parents in the story and they
had their own little story happening but the story revolved around the
teenagers. There was guidance,
grounding, yelling, silence, and love between the parents and the teenagers but
the parents did not take over the story.
They were in the background just making sure that things did not get out
of hand between Iva and Berlin. This
just made the story seem more realistic.
Onto the good stuff… many years after Berlin moves away and
Iva loses touch with him they have a chance meeting and instantly the sparks
are there again. There was absolutely
no doubt these two had to be together but how? Berlin has a 2 year contract and Iva is
headed overseas to pursue her dreams once again they are torn apart. But true love is strong, things can change,
fate can step in.
I cannot possible rave enough about this book. As with every Laura Miller book my heart was
tugged at, broken, and put back together.
I know that when I start a book from her I will not be able to put it down. I recommend picking up your own copy
ASAP.
Thank you Laura Miller for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
